ii. Black and white cats curl together
on the table outside the shark museum
â an Icelandic yin and yang.
The little farmhouse dog
demands a tummy rub
before we venture in
to see the fishing nets and shark jaws,
a row boat, farm implements,
shell cabinets, a dog breed poster.
I buy a hand-knitted woolly hat
for the boat trip coming.
iii. In a shed at the back
hunks of shark meat hang to dry,
by-catch from fishing nets
with that staunch ammonia smell.
We try small cubes on toothpicks.
The farmers stand watching us
stoically, silently â this new crop.
